The term Discount Calculator can be used to refer to many forms of reduction in the price of a good or service. The two most common types of discounts are discounts in which you get a percent off or a fixed amount.

A percent off of a price typically refers to getting some percent, say 15%, off of the original price of the product or service. For example, if good costs \$70, with a 15% discount, the final price would be calculated by subtracting 15% of \$70, from \$70, or equivalently, calculating 90% of \$70:

15% of \$70 = 0.15 × 70 = \$7

\$70 – \$10.5 = \$59.5

or

85% of \$70 = 0.85 × 70 = \$59.5

In this example, Discount Calculator you are saving 15%, or \$10.5.

A fixed amount off of a price refers to subtracting whatever the fixed amount is from the original price. For example, given that service normally costs \$85, and you have a discount coupon for \$10 off, this would mean subtracting \$10 from \$85 to get the final price:

\$85 - \$10 = \$75

In this example, Discount Calculator you are saving the fixed amount of \$10.

The above examples are two of the most common discount methods. Numerous others can be more confusing, such as stackable discounts where you can get 10% off the original price, then 15% more off of that discounted price. If you need to do these kinds of calculations, refer to the Converterwebtools
